Abstract
Here, we report investigations about the direct effect of glycosaminog lycans, such as dermatan sulfate, chondroitin 4- and 6-sulfate upon cA MP-dependent protein kinase activity. The results indicate that glycos aminoglycans strongly influence the phosphorylation activity of this e nzyme against histone type IIa and [Val(6),Ala(7)]-kemptide. While cho ndroitin 4-sulfate and dermatan sulfate exhibit inhibitory effects, ch ondroitin 6-sulfate shows a stimulating effect. Tn addition, the chond roitin B-sulfate is also able to reduce the chondroitin 4-sulfate and dermatan sulfate specific inhibition.
