A. Saudy et al., A NEW STOCHASTIC-ANALYSIS FOR MULTIPLE SUPPORTED MDOF SECONDARY SYSTEMS .1. DYNAMIC INTERACTION EFFECTS, Nuclear Engineering and Design, 147(3), 1994, pp. 235-249
A new stochastic analysis is developed to estimate the response of mul
tiply-supported multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) secondary systems to dy
namic loading. In the proposed stochastic analysis, the effect of the
dynamic interaction between the secondary and primary systems is inclu
ded. An outline for the theoretical formulation of the proposed stocha
stic analysis is presented. The dynamic interaction is shown to consis
t of two effects: the effect of the interaction forces developed at th
e attachment points, and the effect of the changes in the primary syst
em properties as a result of the attachment of the secondary system. N
umerical examples are provided to demonstrate the proposed analysis.
