Pure iron sheets were siliconized and aluminized by pack cementation i
n the temperature range 850-1000-degrees-C. Diffusion coatings of Fe-S
i-Al solid solution were obtained with concentration gradients. The ma
gnetomechanical damping evolution of enriched strips shows a strong de
crease of the magnetomechanical hysteresis losses increasing with the
(Si + Al) content. This is subsequent to a marked lowering of the magn
etic core losses about 20%, 42% and 47%, measured respectively at 50 H
z, 400 Hz and 1 kHz at 1 T induction.
