The influence of anisotropy induced during casting of Fe81.5Cr4.5B14 M
etallic glass ribbons in a magnetic field, on the magnetomechanical co
upling characteristics has been investigated as a function of the magn
etic bias field. From the point of view of higher magnetomechanical co
upling (k = 0.24), quenching (during casting) in a transverse magnetic
field is most effective because a domain structure perpendicular to t
he ribbon length structure is partially formed.
