J. Sievert, DETERMINATION OF THE DENSITY OF MAGNETIC SHEET STEEL USING STRIP AND SHEET SPECIMENS, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 133(1-3), 1994, pp. 390-392
Knowledge of the thickness of magnetic sheet steel is required for set
ting the induction during measurements of the magnetic properties. Dir
ect measurements are difficult, so that the thickness is derived from
the density rho(m). For the density, in turn, the immersion method is
a direct but difficult and uncertain method of determination. However,
relying on a well known density to resistivity relation, the electric
al measurement is a convenient alternative. It is shown that a simple
method based on conformal mapping theory provides a reliable method of
determining the resistivity, and thus the density, even for large she
et specimens.
