Abstract
Myocardial stunning is a mechanical dysfunction that persists after re perfusion of previously ischemic tissue in the absence of irreversible damage including myocardial necrosis. Myocardial stunning is an unfav orable phenomenon that is manifest during reperfusion and is caused mo stly by events associated with reperfusion. This dysfunction and the a ccompanying contractile abnormalities delay the benefits of reperfusio n therapy.
