Abstract
Angular distributions of the tensor analyzing powers A(zz) and A(xx) - A(yy) for the reactions H-2(d, p)H-3 and H-2(d, n)He-3 are presented at deuteron energies of 25, 40, 60, and 80 keV. The analyzing powers f or the two reaction channels are quite similar at these energies. The data have been included in an R-matrix analysis of the four nucleon sy stem. According to this analysis, transitions from entrance-channel qu intet-S states are important in these reactions, so that the use of po larized, fuels would not result in a neutron-lean fusion reaction.
