Abstract
It is shown that tau-dependent compression of energy levels occurs in most SO(6)-like nuclei, where tau is the SO(5) quantum number. We sugg est that this compression represents a generalization of the Coriolis antipairing effect to symmetries other than SU(3), and that it is effe ctively described by an SO(6)-plus-pairing model.
