R. Ducrocq et al., HEMOGLOBINOPATHIES IN THE DOGON COUNTRY - PRESENCE OF BETA(S), BETA(C) AND DELTA(A') GENES, American journal of hematology, 46(3), 1994, pp. 245-247
The population of the Dogon, located in Mall, is divided in an endogam
ic Noble class and two endogamic servant castes (Tanners and Blacksmit
hs). We find that the polymorphic frequencies of beta(c), beta(S), and
, unexpectedly, a mutation of the delta-chain (delta(A')), are geograp
hically (valley vs. plateau) as well as social status dependent. (C) 1
