R. Bormann, THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC REQUIREMENTS FOR INVERSE MELTING, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 179, 1994, pp. 31-35
Investigations of phase transformations of supersaturated solid soluti
ons demonstrate that a polymorphous amorphization of the crystalline p
hase, the so-called inverse melting, does occur in the Ti-Cr system. H
owever, this phenomenon is only observed in a small composition range
around 55 at.% Cr. The particular thermodynamic and kinetic requiremen
ts for inverse melting are described by using the Ti-Cr system as an e
xample.
