Abstract
Techniques are described for the fabrication of metal and ceramic fibe rs of diameter below 20 mum by a method of melt extraction. The proces s is containerless and has been successfully applied to reactive metal s and high temperature ceramics. The properties of the fibers, where e xceptional, are reviewed.
