Abstract
Formation of a solid solution in Al-Cu and Al-Cu-SiC(p) alloys during spray atomization and codeposition is addressed. The solid solubility extension of Cu in alpha-Al was determined by using X-ray diffractomet ry and scanning electron microscopy microanalysis. The effect of SiC(p ) on the extension of solid solubility in Al-Cu alloys was approached by using the absolute stability criterion.
