Abstract
In [5] a new spread spectrum (SS) system was proposed that does not ha ve a separate acquisition mode of operation. The system uses random Fr equency Hopping, Gold Codes, two receiver banks, and a combined acquis ition/coding technique so as to eliminate the acquisition stage of ope ration. In the following, an algorithmic detection scheme is proposed using two sets of receivers that combines acquisition and demodulation simultaneously for the said system. We show by analysis the merits of the new technique and compare it against a conventional Frequency Hop ping multi-access system that needs non overlapping code acquisition m ode for its operation. The throughput efficiencies of the conventional and the new acquisitionless system are compared in the case where Ree d Solomon codes are used.dagger
