CHRONIC POLYARTHRITIS WITH BILATERAL SACR OILIITIS IN A PATIENT WITH SARCOIDOSIS

Sacroiliitis is rare in patient' with sarcoidosis, since only 11 cases have been reported to date. A new case is reported herein. The unusua l, as yet unreported, feature in this case was the presence of chronic polyarthritis. Although articular manifestations of sarcoidosis often respond to corticosteroids, the likelihood of dependency is high and consequently other drugs may be preferable. The patient reported here was given salazosulfapyridine which was well tolerated. At last follow -up six months into the treatment, a substantial improvement was recor ded.
