Abstract
During the years 1979-1992, 102 young females (16-45 y) with an ischem ic stroke were recensed. A specifical mechanism has been noted in 85 c ases. Five main etiologies could be noted: non atherosclerosis arterio pathies (20 cases included 9 arterial dissections), oral contraceptive (19), atherosclerosis (19) mainly after 35 y, migraine (13), cardioem bolic disorders (1 0). The authors discussed about the intrication of the etiologies and the sensibility of the exams.
