Abstract
Epidemiology, clinical manifestations and outcomes of infective endoca rditis in the elderly were analysed in a study derived from a prospect ive nationwide survey. This study showed that (1) the clinical present ation is often misleading (2) the digestive tract represents a major p ortal of entry in the elderly (3) the mortality rate (37.5 %) remains worrying in this population.
