Mg. Hermann et Rb. Woyach, TOWARD REFLECTION, EVALUATION, AND INTEGRATION IN INTERNATIONAL-STUDIES - AN EDITORIAL PHILOSOPHY, International studies quarterly, 38, 1994, pp. 1-10
To paraphrase Martin Luther King, We have a dream-that one day interna
tional studies will be characterized by lively dialogue and debate acr
oss its various perspectives and areas of inquiry; that this dialogue
and debate will stimulate reflection, evaluation, and integration of k
nowledge in the field; and that this critical synthesis will broaden t
he research, training, and action of members of our intellectual commu
nity. This journal, the Mershon International Studies Review (subseque
ntly also referred to as the Review), of which this is the inaugural i
ssue, provides an important means for achieving our dream. The purpose
of this editorial is to describe the philosophy behind the Review and
to indicate how the journal and you, the reader, can help us achieve
the dream.
