Jj. Gonzalez et al., SF6 CIRCUIT-BREAKER ARC MODELING - INFLUENCE OF THE ELECTRIC-FIELD ONTHE ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY, Journal of physics. D, Applied physics, 27(5), 1994, pp. 985-993
The electrical conductivity of quasi-thermal SF6 plasmas is calculated
as a function of the electric field by considering non-equilibrium ef
fects on the electron distribution function and on the plasma composit
ion. Generally, the presence of the electric field increases the elect
rical conductivity. These results are then used in a SF6 circuit break
er modelling during the plasma decay. Taking into account the modifica
tions of the electrical conductivity due to the electric field modifie
s the post-arc current and decreases the calculated interruption capab
ility.
