Abstract
A 75-year-old woman suffering from chronic late paraphrenia presented with the unusual delusion of being accompanied and protected by an inv isible dwarfish being. By analogy with the ''transitional objects'' an d ''imaginary companions'' of childhood development the delusion is in terpreted as a regression phenomenon.
