Abstract
Starting with Bandura's 1979 formulation regarding the relationship be tween aversive experience and aggression, this paper asks the logicall y prior question-what are the cultural influences that lead attitudes or actions to be experienced as aversive? The focus is on aggression a mong junior high school students. The community culture of a middle-cl ass suburb is identified as a significant contributor to the aggressio n found among these students.
