Qh. Gong et al., ABSORPTION-SPECTRUM OF GAS-PHASE C60 IN THE 200-400 NM REGION, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(9), 1994, pp. 120000199-120000201
Gas phase C60 was produced in a stainless-steel heat-pipe oven and its
absorption spectrum was studied with a high pressure hydrogen dischar
ge lamp. Three absorption peaks were found at 327.7 nm, 253.5 nm and 2
06.9 nm. The corresponding absorption cross sections were determined t
o be (4.9 +/- 0.8) x 10(-16) cm2, (1.9 +/- 0.3) x 10(-15) cm2 and (2.4
+/- 0.4) x 10(-15) cm2, respectively. The dependence of UV absorption
on the temperature in the range from 400-degrees-C to 830-degrees-C w
as also determined.
