An invitation to the Second New Zealand Symposium on Biosensors and Ch
emical Sensors gave me the chance to remember the joys of science: not
only the tedious work in the lab and writing endless fund application
s, but to meet new, interesting people and to learn about other approa
ches. As everyone might imagine I was not unhappy to follow the kind i
nvitation to see sensors in Aotearoa. It was a journey into the past a
nd into the future.
