Abstract
A biopsy of a fifth lumbar vertebral lesion confirmed that an intracra nial meningioma had metastasized 12 years after the diagnosis of the p rimary tumour. A literature review reports 25 cases of extracranial os seous metastases from meningioma. The mechanisms of spread are discuss ed as is the role of surgery in the seeding of such tumours.
