Bacillary angiomatosis is a recently described vasoproliferative lesio
n associated with infection by a newly characterized rickettsial organ
ism, Rochalimaea henselae. Most previous reports have described skin l
esions in immunocompromized patients infected with human immunodeficie
ncy virus. This is the first case report detailing the features of bac
illary angiomatosis of the spleen occurring in a patient undergoing cy
totoxic chemotherapy for disseminated ovarian carcinoma.
