Abstract
Birch reduction of the silane derivatives (3a-d), prepared from Grigna rd cross-coupling reactions, afforded the cyclohexane-1,3-dione deriva tives (5a-d) after acid hydrolysis. Compounds (5a-d) are precursors to silicon-containing herbicides of the general structure (8).
