Abstract
Flow field near the front of an incompressible viscous fluid pushed in to a circular pipe is analyzed theoretically and observed experimental ly. In the theory, an approximated stream function for a steady state near the axis of the pipe is obtained by use of the Stokes equation. I n the experiment, the shape of the surface was observed by a video cam era. The theoretical velocity profile and the surface shape near the a xis coincide with those from computation (Part I) and experiment.
