Abstract
The reactions of coumarin and 4-methylcoumarin with single-electron tr ansfer reagent sodium naphthalenide have been investigated. Two diaste reloisomeric products have been obtained in each case resulting from r eductive dimerisation. The structure of these products have been estab lished from spectral data.
