Abstract
Mass spectral fragmentation of some 2-aryl-amino-5-alkyl-1,3,4-thiadia zoles and 2-alkyl-6-arylimidazo[2,1-b]-2,3,4-thiadiazoles have been st udied with the help of high resolution and metastable ion spectra. McL afferty rearrangement involving the gamma-hydrogen transfer from the a lkyl chain dominates the mass spectra of many of the compounds. Prefer able cleavage of C-C bond between C-2 and C-3 of the alkyl chain is al so observed.
