Abstract
Potassium salts of the camphor oxime (1) and camphor quinone-2-oxime ( 7) on reaction with epichlorhydrin followed by treatment with HCl give 2-[N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropoxy)imino]-1, 7, 7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1 ]heptane (3) and its 3-oxo derivative (9) respectively. The halo-hydri ns of 3 and 9 on condensation with 1-arylpiperazines in acetonitrile y ield -(4-aryl-1-piperazinyl)-2-hydroxypropoxy]imino}-1, 7, 7-trimethyl bicyclo[2.2.1]-heptanes (4) and their 3-oxo derivatives (10), respecti vely. The compounds 4 and 10 show positive ionotropic effect but do no t show the expected beta-adrenergic blocking activity.
