Ym. Loshkarev et al., USE OF ELECTROCHEMICAL ALLOYING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CORROSION-RESISTANCE OF ZINC COATINGS DEPOSITED FROM ALKALINE ELECTROLYTES, Protection of metals, 30(1), 1994, pp. 65-70
Electrodeposition of alloyed zinc and zinc alloys from alkaline soluti
ons with LV-4584 additions was studied. The alloy composition on zinc
deposition in the presence of Fe subgroup metals (Fe, Ni, Co) does not
depend on the current density, and zinc is predominantly deposited. U
pon the electrochemical alloying of zinc deposits by molybdenum, the M
o concentration in die deposits is proportional to the Na2MoO4 concent
ration in the electrolyte and the current density. The mechanism of Mo
O42- ion reduction in zincate-molybdate solution was suggested. Alkali
ne electrolytic compositions were elaborated for die deposition of cor
rosion-resistant coatings of compositions Zn-(9 - 10%) Ni, Zn-(10 - 17
%) Fe, Zn-(1.3 - 1.7%) Co, Zn-(0.2 - 0.6%) Mo, and Zn-(0.8 - 1.5%) Pb.
