Aa. Revina et al., ELECTROOXIDATION OF DISSOLVED SO2 CATALYZED BY MANGANESE(III) TETRATOLYLPORPHYRIN CHLORIDE, Kinetics and catalysis, 35(2), 1994, pp. 237-241
The kinetics of the interaction between the peroxo complex of Mn(IV)TT
P...O2(2-) and SO2 in an acetonitrile solution is studied. The direct
interaction between Mn(IV)TTP...O2(2-) and sulfur dioxide resulting in
the SO2 oxidation and regeneration of the initial form of the Mn(III)
TPP catalyst molecule is confirmed. The data obtained provides additio
nal reasons for considering peroxo complexes of metalloporphyrins as a
ctive catalytic centers responsible for the substrate oxidation. It es
tablished that the interaction between SO2 and Mn(IV)TTP...O2(2-) occu
rs in several steps and includes the stage of chain SO2 oxidation. A w
orking electro-catalytic model based on metalloporphyrin is suggested
for the SO2 oxidation with molecular oxygen.
