Abstract
N,N',N ''-Tricyclohexylguanidine was encapsulated in hydrophobic zeoli te Y by reacting N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide with cyclohexylamine wi thin the supercage. The encapsulated guanidine catalyzes the addition reaction of acetone to benzaldehyde forming 4-phenyl-4-hydroxybutan-2- one as the principal product, as opposed to the homogeneous system whi ch produces 4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one via condensation reaction.
