Abstract
The Literature on female dyspareunia is reviewed with an emphasis on d escription and classification, incidence and prevalence, etiological f actors, and treatment approaches. The research is found to be plagued with methodological problems and characterized by a persistent dichoto mization of issues into physiological and psychological categories. A systematized and integrated approach to the study of coital pain is pr oposed.
