The bottom of tropical lagoons is frequently covered with seagrass bed
s which are inhabited by fish communities, essentially juveniles. Occu
pation and use of these nurseries depend on population abundance and r
eception capacity of the environment. In consequences, a permanent ren
ewal of population is observed, which is variable in time and space, a
nd follows general patterns previously described in Guadeloupe.
