A hydrostat based on the ''dry bag'' principle is proposed for hydrost
atic compaction of powder metallurgy products. The hydrostat design is
a combination of a direct action device with the press mold mounted i
n the container channel, where a ''bare'' briquette is loaded into the
mold. The device is made airtight ''automatically'' as soon as the fa
ce end of the moving plunger touches the mold flanging. The hydrostat
can eliminate manual labor and improve efficiency.
