The properties of porous permeable lubricating elements fabricated fro
m sintered metal powders were studied. It was shown that the working p
roperties of the material are determined by its pore structure. Tests
on type VTS-07/2 twisting machines revealed that the newly developed l
ubricating elements increase the degree of lubrication ten-fold, and d
ecrease thread breakage by 13-30%. (Ise of these elements permitted an
increase in spindle rotation rate, leading to a 7-9% increase in mach
ine productivity, and also decreased the extent of dusting by 57-76%.
