Abstract
The homoleptic eight coordinate thorium dialkylphosphide, Th[P(CH(2)CH (2)PMe(2))(2)](4) 1 reacts with carbon monoxide to give the first repo rted double insertion product where CO is incorporated into a coordina ted secondary alcohol derivative by the coupling of two dialkyl phosph ide groups at the same carbon atom.
