Abstract
We have found that adenine enhanced the purinoceptor-operated cytoplas mic Ca2+ oscillation in rat megakaryocytes at submillimolar concentrat ions. Guanine and other nucleic acid bases had no effect on this syste m. Adenine enhanced the reaction intensity but had no effect on the th reshold concentration of ATP to evoke the oscillation.
