Ja. Osaheni et al., EFFICIENT PHOTOGENERATION OF CHARGE-CARRIERS IN A LAYERED PHOTORECEPTOR USING A CONJUGATED POLYMER, Applied physics letters, 64(23), 1994, pp. 3112-3114
The field-dependent quantum efficiency phi(E) for photogeneration of c
harge carriers in a bilayer photoreceptor consisting of a poly(p-pheny
lene benzobisthiazole) charge generation layer and a hole transporting
layer has been measured by the xerographic photodischarge technique.
Phi(E) varied from 0.10 at low fields (<10(5) V/cm) to 0.32 at 10(6) V
/cm. The conjugated polymer-based photoreceptors have a photosensitivi
ty of 13 ergs/cm2 and negligible dark decay (approximately 0.2 V/s). P
hotocarrier generation in the bilayer devices is suggested to be due t
o field-assisted dissociation of exciplexes formed between the conjuga
ted polymer and the hole transporting molecule.
