Abstract
S2 was generated by photodissociation of S2Cl2 and the B3SIGMA(u)- sta te was investigated for upsilon' = 0..8 by laser excitation spectrosco py from the ground state. Bands were detected and assigned up to rotat ional levels N' = 50. For both states accurate parameters were determi ned, which allow the description of the B-X spectrum for N less-than-o r-equal-to 20 within the errors of measurements. For higher quantum nu mbers deviations from perturbations become severe. A new set of molecu lar parameters for the X3SIGMA(g)- ground state is given from a simult aneous fit of optical and millimeter spectra. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
