Abstract
Omental herniation through an 11-mm umbilical incision occurred 36 hou rs after operative laparoscopy. It was attributed to large amounts of residual irrigation fluid in the abdominopelvic cavity and failure to close the fascia of the umbilical incision. This case stresses the imp ortance of closing the fascia of larger laparoscopic incisions, especi ally if irrigation fluid is left in the abdominal cavity postoperative ly.
