Abstract
This paper reviews some applications of xylanases to the bleaching of kraft pulp in regard to the mechanism and effects of xylanase treatmen t on pulp and the factors affecting the treatment efficiency. The majo r benefits of such biological treatments are decreased chemical use, w hich means lower chemical costs, reduced AOX, and higher brightness ce ilings.
