The temperature dependence of the rate constant and the effective diff
usion coefficient of incorporation of lead atoms from an underpotentia
l monolayer adsorbate on Ag(111) into the silver crystal lattice at lo
w and high coverages is investigated. The transfer activation energy i
n both cases and the lateral bond energy of the lead atoms in the adso
rbate are determined. The resulting energy values compare favourably w
ith those known from the literature.
