W. Arthur et al., VALIDATION OF A VISUAL-ATTENTION TEST AS A PREDICTOR OF DRIVING ACCIDENT INVOLVEMENT, Journal of occupational and organizational psychology, 67, 1994, pp. 173-182
A computer-administered test of visual attention was investigated as a
predictor of driving accident involvement. Three forms of the test we
re administered to three independent samples. The correlation between
test performance and self-reported driving accident involvement was si
gnificant. Furthermore, the magnitude of this relationship was within
the upper range of validities typically reported for most selection de
vices. The potential utility of the test and suggestions for future re
search are discussed.
