Sf. Belykh et al., THE EXCITED PARTICLES EMISSION UNDER ELECTRON-BOMBARDMENT OF THE METAL-SURFACES COVERED BY THE ALKALINE FILMS, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 68, 1994, pp. 151-155
In this paper the electron-stimulated desorption for the excited H-ato
ms and molecules of OH, CO and CN has been investigated. The Cu, Ta, W
and stainless steel targets were bombarded by the electron beam with
the energy of 1 keV and the optical radiation emitted by the desorbed
excited particles was measured. It was shown that the radiation of H(a
lpha), H(beta), H(gamma)-lines of Balmer series under the electron bom
bardment of neither clean metal surfaces nor the targets covered by th
e adsorbed atoms of residual gas has been observed. The radiation of H
(alpha). H(beta), H(gamma)-lines and molecular band of OH (306 nm) we
have observed only under the electron bombardment of the metal surface
s covered by Cs. The H(alpha)-line and OH-band were arisen simultaneou
sly when the certain Cs-coverage was reached. In this case their inten
sities depended on the H partial pressure. Under these conditions for
the first time the radiation of CN and CO-molecules were observed when
the organic compounds containing the nitrogen and air were admitted t
o chamber.
