N. Nakhodkin et al., ELECTRON-ENERGY-LOSS LINEWIDTH FOR ELECTRONS REFLECTED FROM A NON-MONOCRISTALLINE SUBSTANCE, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 68, 1994, pp. 641-646
The quantum approach for analyzing reflection electron loss spectrosco
py data is developed for electrons with energy less than 500 eV. A the
oretical expression for relative intensity of line corresponding to lo
sses due to bulk plasmon excitations in non-monocristalline substance
has been obtained. This expression is based on the idea of single elas
tic-inelastic scattering mechanism for the low-energy region. It is su
itable for the investigations with angular resolution. For the line-wi
dth, corresponding to bulk plasmon excitation, satisfactory agreement
with experimental data for polycrystalline Al has been obtained.
