F. Fremont et al., EXPERIMENTAL-EVIDENCE FOR DIELECTRONIC EXCITATION PRODUCING NE K VACANCIES IN 35-KEV N7++NE COLLISIONS, Physical review. A, 54(6), 1996, pp. 4609-4612
The method of Auger electron spectroscopy was utilized to measure cros
s sections for the production of K-Auger electrons in N7+ + Ne and N6 + Ne collisions at an impact energy of 35 keV. In addition to the K-A
uger electrons from the nitrogen projectile following multiple electro
n capture, K-Auger electrons of the Ne target are observed for the sys
tem N7+ + Ne. This observation is attributed to dielectronic excitatio
n, produced by electron-electron interaction, where a K- and an L-shel
l electron of Ne are transferred into the K shell of N7+.
