Abstract
Four homologues of 4-(trans-4-alkylcydohexyl)-alkylbenzene were prepar ed and their liquid crystal properties were investigated. These homolo gues comprise an interesting and useful family of nematic liquid cryst als with melting points below 0 degrees C. Eutectic mixture of these f our compounds gave a stable nematic phase at temperatures between -22. 8 and -50.2 degrees C.
