W. Fujita et al., POLYMERIZATION OF PYRROLE ON A ROUGHENED GOLD ELECTRODE STUDIED BY SURFACE-ENHANCED RAMAN-SCATTERING, Chemistry Letters, (5), 1994, pp. 933-936
The polymerization of pyrrole adsorbed on a roughened gold electrode w
as studied by surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. I
t was found that pyrrole was polymerized at -0.2 V vs. SCE and under o
pen circuit. It is concluded that the polymerization of pyrrole occurs
by the catalytic action of adatoms on a roughened gold electrode beca
use pyrrole is adsorbed with the molecular ring parallel to the surfac
e plane.
