Abstract
Famotidine has been used for the treatment of peptic ulcers and Zollin ger Ellison syndrome and is also useful in reflux and erosive oesophag itis. To evaluate the effects of Famotidine 20mg given twice daily in the symptomatic relief of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease with norma l oesophagus or mild endoscopic oesophagitis, patients were followed o ver a period of six weeks. 70% of the patients had complete day-time h eartburn relief during the study and 75% had complete night-time heart burn relief during the study. Famotidine was found to be safe and ther e were no serious clinical or laboratory adverse experiences.
